In the applications for which the Saffire was designed, wordclock connections are not needed. Synchronisation is only needed if timing is crucial (for example when doing 'laybacks' of audio in post production), or if there are several digital devices being used simultaneously. With the Saffire, the only sources being recorded will be the analogue inputs and/or SPDIF signals. Therefore the only digital sources that will need synchronizing are devices connected to the SPDIF In. In this case no wordclock connection is needed, as wordclock is embedded within the SPDIF signal from the digital source and the Saffire will sync to this.
