No LEDs illuminated
Is the POWER switched on?
Is the correct mains
voltage being used for your unit? If not, the fuse may blow, requiring the correct fuse to be refitted. (
Click here to find the fuse rating for your unit.)
No output when using the MIC INPUT
Is the POWER switched on?
Is the MIC LED next to the SELECT switch illuminated?
Are the INPUT LEVELS set correctly?
For microphones that require phantom power, is the +48V switch engaged? (If you are unsure whether your microphone requires phantom power, check the user guide for your microphone.)
Is the output fader set correctly?
Are either of the Insert switches engaged?
Are any dynamics activated, e.g. Gate?
Is there a fault with your mic/mic cable?
No output when using the LINE INPUT
Is the POWER switched on?
Is the LINE LED next to the SELECT switch illuminated?
Are the INPUT LEVELS set correctly?
Is the output fader set correctly?
Are either of the Insert switches engaged?
Are any dynamics activated, e.g. Gate?
No output when using the INSTRUMENT INPUT
Is the POWER switched on?
Is the INST LED next to the SELECT switch illuminated?
Are the INPUT LEVELS set correctly?
Is the output fader set correctly?
Are either of the Insert switches engaged?
Are any dynamics activated, e.g. Gate?
The FILTERS are not working
Is the FILTER IN switch engaged?
Are the dials set to act on frequencies that are present in the signal?
Is the ALL EQ switch illuminated? If not, none of the EQ sections will act on the signal.
Is the BYPASS switch (located next to the de-esser section) engaged? This deactivates all EQ and Dynamics.
The PARAMETRIC EQ section is not working
Is the PARAM EQ IN switch engaged?
Is the appropriate bands frequency dial set to act on a frequency that is present in the signal?
Is the ALL EQ switch illuminated? If not, none of the EQ sections will act on the signal.
Is the BYPASS switch (located next to the de-esser section) engaged? This deactivates all EQ and Dynamics.
The SHELVING EQ is not working
Is the SHELVING EQ IN switch engaged?
Are the frequency dials set to act on frequencies that are present in the signal?
Is the ALL EQ switch illuminated? If not, none of the EQ sections will act on the signal.
Is the BYPASS switch (located next to the de-esser section) engaged? This deactivates all EQ and Dynamics.
The COMPRESSOR is not working
Is the COMP IN switch engaged?
Is the LEVEL set correctly? If set too low, the signal level may not be high enough to activate the compressor.
Are the COMPRESSION controls set correctly? If threshold is too high, the input may not reach the level at which compression starts. (See ENGINEERING HINTS.)
Is the LISTEN switch illuminated? This will result in monitoring of the compressors
sidechain. (See ENGINEERING HINTS.)
Is the BYPASS switch (located next to the de-esser section) engaged? This deactivates all EQ and Dynamics.
The GATE is not working
Is the GATE IN switch engaged?
Is the threshold set correctly? If set too low, the input level may not reach the threshold at which the expander activates.(See ENGINEERING HINTS.)
Is the LISTEN switch illuminated? This will result in monitoring of the gates
sidechain.
Is the BYPASS switch (located next to the de-esser section) engaged? This deactivates all EQ and Dynamics.
The DE-ESSER is not working
Is the DE-ESS IN switch engaged?
Is the LEVEL set correctly? If set too low, the signal level may not be high enough to activate the de-esser.
Is the frequency dial set to act on frequencies that are present in the signal? This can be checked by activating the DE-ESS LISTEN switch.
Is the BYPASS switch (located next to the de-esser section) engaged? This deactivates all EQ and Dynamics.
The DE-ESSER LISTEN is not audible
Is the DE-ESS IN switch engaged?
Are the analogue or digital o/ps in use? The De-esser Listen can only be heard using the analogue o/p.
No word clock lock
Is your external
word clock source transmitting
word clock?
Is the sample frequency set to match that of the
word clock-transmitting device?
Is an external
word clock cable needed and, if so, is it connected? (See clocking regulations in the GENERIC SETUP)
Has the digital card been initialised? (See A/D Card section in GENERIC SETUP)
Has the front panel switch been set to receive External
Word Clock?
No output from the digital output option
Has the A/D card been initialised? If not, simply hold down any front panel switch whilst powering the unit up.
Is the sample frequency set correctly? If the sample rate is set to 176 or 192kHz then no signal will be transmitted from the
ADAT O/Ps.
Is the receiving device set to receive the correct resolution (16-, 20- or 24-bit)?
Is the receiving device set to external sync? (See DIGITAL in GENERIC SETUP)
For AES/
SPDIF, is the correct type of lead being used?
For AES at 192kHz, is the receiving device a one- or two-wire system?
