How are the LED meters calibrated? .: Focusrite Answerbase

I have noticed the meters moving while I do an offline mixdown in cubase. Does this degrade quality at all, should I do realtime mixdowns?
The moving meters during mix down should be there. There should be no audible difference between offline and realtime mix down.
