Will the Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter work with my Firewire Saffire Interface?

The new 'Retina' Mac Book Firewire 800 port has been upgraded to a Thunderbolt port. This means that we are encountering more and more Saffire range customers required to use a Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt adaptor to connect their audio interface to their computer. This gave us good reason to put the adaptor to the test and make sure that the Saffires achieved full functionality when connected in this way.

The testing confirmed that there are no problems using one of these adaptors to connect your Saffire and that the hardware and software works in exactly the way it should.

We do recommend that Pro 14, 24 & 24DSP customers use the power supply provided in the box when connecting via the adaptor, particularly when using the 48V Phantom power for condenser microphones.
