The LEDs on my Saffire flash when the unit is connected to my MacBook Pro. Why?

The new MacBook Pros have a lower power spec for the firewire bus. This means that the Saffire will require its power supply to boot successfully - the lights on the unit will continuosly flash if not provided with appropriate power by the firewire bus.

The LEDs do not illuminate
ï Is the POWER switched on?ï Is the correct mains voltage being used for your unit? If not, the fuse may blow, requiring the correct fuse to be refitted. (See Fuse changing in the GENERIC SETUP)

My MacBook Pro can not power my Saffire.
Due to a change in the power protection circuit, the new Mac Book Pro laptop computers will not supply sufficient power over the FireWire bus to initially boot older Saffire and Saffire LE units....
