In the case of the original Liquid Mix, the expansion card is ideal for those requiring more instances at higher sample rates. With Liquid Mix 16, the expansion card also increases the number of instances at 44.1 / 48kHz.
Without the expansion card, the number or instances of the Liquid Mix software (maximum number of channels that can be processed simultaneously) reduces as the sample rate doubles, e.g. 8 @ 88.2/96kHz and (Original Liquid Mix only) 2 @ 192kHz.
With the expansion card, for the original Liquid Mix, this number increases to 16 @ 88.2/96kHz and 8 @ 192kHz. However, the maximum number of instances cannot exceed 32, so the number of instances available operating 44.1 / 48kHz remains unchanged.
In the case of Liquid Mix 16, the channel count can also be increased at 44.1/48kHz, and increases to 24, and at 88.2/96kHz increases to 8.
